Flame Hardening

Flame hardening (or quench hardening) is a surface hardening process in which the heat is applied directly by a high-temperature flame, followed by quenching in a water-based polymer quench. It is typically used on medium carbon, mild or alloy steel and cast iron to create a hard, wear-resistant surface for specific parts such as crane wheels and rollers.
