Telford Tigers logo Tigers Head Coach Tom Watkins believes raised expectations could carry his side to a clean-sweep of English Premier League trophies next season.

A flurry of summer signings – including GB international Jonathan Weaver and EIHL star Jason Silverthorn – have seen the club tagged as clear favourites for honours.

Hopes of a first league trophy in 26 years have also seen a surge in season ticket sales, with a 200 per cent rise in interest over previous seasons.

Watkins is, however, wary of a build-up of pressure as the new campaign approaches, and dismissed suggestions that his side could dominate the league.

First impressions PDF Print E-mail

Telford Tigers logo As a journalist, it is hard not to make first impressions.

Try as I might not to, I often form an opinion of opposing teams from the moment they exchange glares in warm-up. Usually with Owen Bennett.

There is, however, always the chance that those opinions are wrong. Take Andre Payette, for example. He snarls. He chips. And yet, he is grudgingly admired by fans across the land. Sort of.

Why? Because those first impression can sometimes be wrong – just watch, or listen to, some of his off-ice interviews.
