Telford Tigers logo Tigers owner Wayne Scholes has launched a rallying cry for fans to join the club’s match-night volunteer force.

The English Premier League outfit has seen attendances increase three-fold, following Red Hockey’s takeover in October last year.

A combination high-profile signings, and improved results for The Tigers, has attracted crowds nearing the 1000-mark for the first time since 1999.

And in an exclusive video interview with BBC Shropshire’s Paul Shuttleworth, Scholes explained the need for fan involvement on match nights.

UK ice hockey review findings PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 15 September 2014 09:34

Team GB Logo Ice Hockey UK (IHUK) are pleased to announce some of the findings by Wharton Consulting following their structure and governance review on UK ice hockey earlier this year.

IHUK brought together all of the other national ice hockey governing bodies; English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA), Scottish Ice Hockey-UK (SIH-UK) and the UK Elite League (EIHL) for the review.

It was necessary as funders and key stakeholders, including organisations such as the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), British Olympic Association (BOA), UK Sport, Sport England, Sport Scotland, Sport Wales, Sport Northern Ireland and UK Anti-Doping, state that good governance and clarity around structure are vital if an organisation wants to be supported or funded.

Telford Tigers weekend preview PDF Print E-mail

Telford Tigers logo The Tigers will be ordered to “go flat out” against NIHL sides Solway Sharks and Billingham Stars in the British Challenge Cup this weekend.

This year’s competition sees English Premier League sides take on teams from the Moralee Conference of the NIHL, in a series of crossover games.

That gives Head Coach Tom Watkins a break from league action, as his side welcomes Solway to Shropshire on Saturday, before Sunday’s trip to Billingham.

And although pundits might rate both games as one-sided affairs, Watkins is refusing to see them as easy wins.

Swindon Wildcats logo Last Sunday the Swindon Wildcats got their 2014/15 EPL season off the best possible start, as they earned themselves an away shootout victory against the Manchester Phoenix.

In a night that saw both sides come together, it would be the Phoenix who would draw first blood, after the home sides' James Archer put his side in front in just over 60 seconds. This close range score would be the only differential between the teams who would drag the game into a frantic second period.
