Telford Tigers logo Telford Tigers' latest signing Rupert Quiney has hailed Head Coach Tom Watkins as a key reason behind his decision to join the EPL outfit.

Quiney, 23, agreed terms on a long-term deal with the Tigers this week, following an impressive season at Cardiff Devils in the Elite League.

The move to Telford will see him continue a learning curve that has included a successful spell in Canada, as well as two seasons with Cardiff's NIHL outfit.

He was a key target for Watkins in this summer's transfer market, and had few hesitations in joining the Tigers.

Telford Tigers logo Telford Tigers have signed Cardiff Devils defenceman Rupert Quiney as Tom Watkins's rebuilding process gathers pace.

The former GB under-19 international played for Cardiff in the Elite League last season, having impressed with the club's NIHL outfit.

Quiney, standing at 6' 4” and weighing 223lbs, spent two years in Canada with 'Toronto Canada Moose', and captained the side in his final season.

Tigers Head Coach Tom Watkins been tracking the 23-year-old for a number of years and believes he will prove to be a key player.

Telford Tigers logo Telford Tigers defenceman Dan Scott expects fitness to play a crucial role in the rebuilding of his side ahead of the new EPL season.

The 21-year-old has designed a summer training programme for those players on the retained list, following last month's play-off loss to Guildford.

Head coach Tom Watkins is currently in the process of building a squad for an assault on the EPL title, with a string of new arrivals expected.

Team GB Logo Great Britain Women won silver and narrowly miss out on gold following a 1-0 defeat by Italy Women after penalty shots in Asiago.

Needing a regulation-time win for promotion to Division 1B, GB came close in a thrilling game but once the game ended 0-0 after regulation time, Italy were promoted.

Team GB Logo Great Britain head coach Doug Christiansen has narrowed his squad down to 25 players following back-to-back matches against Netherlands this weekend.

There are a few injuries in the GB camp, so Christiansen will delay naming his final 23 for the World Championship (Division 1B) until later in the week.

Christiansen released four players from his squad tonight - Sam McCluskey, James Griffin, Jonathan Boxill and Matt Haywood.

Team GB Logo Great Britain Men were beaten 5-4 by Netherlands following overtime in their final game ahead of the World Championship.

Hull Stingrays netminder Ben Bowns started the game in net and was replaced by Mike Will of the Braehead Clan at the start of the third period.

GB turned a one-goal deficit into a 2-1 first-period lead with goals for Matty Davies (assisted Matt Towe and Matt Haywood) and Phil Hill (assisted Jonathan Boxill and Mark Garside).

Team GB Logo Great Britain Men beat Netherlands 3-0 in their international match at Ice Sheffield on Saturday night.

Netminder Ben Bowns secured a 19-shot shutout with an impressive display.

GB took the lead at 2:28 when Netherlands netminder Ian Meierdres was caught behind his net and Mark Garside set up Kevin Phillips to fire into an unguarded net.

Team GB Logo Great Britain Women will play for promotion on Saturday following their 3-1 victory over Korea Women on Thursday afternoon.

Netminder Nicole Jackson turned away 26 of the 27 shots she faced as GB claimed an important three points.

GB now have to wait on the result of Italy Women against New Zealand Women this evening to learn how many points they need for the gold medal.
