SWINDON: March 21, 2016 - The Swindon Wildcats Quarter Final opponent in the 2015-16 English Premier Ice Hockey League playoffs was determined on Sunday evening [March 20, 2016] when Guildford Flames selected the Cats as their opposition from a remaining choice of Wildcats and MK Lightning.
The Flames, third place in the final standings, were eight points ahead of the Wildcats, in sixth place, ending the 2015-16 regular season.
The Wildcats will open the playoffs at the SIA on Saturday, March 26, at 5:45pm in a best-of-two quarter final series, the return game will be at the Spectrum the following evening, Sunday March 27 at 6pm.
With Basingstoke Bison ending the season as Champions, they predictably opted to face the playoffs lowest placed side, Manchester Phoenix [8th], while Peterborough Phantoms followed suit, going for 7th placed Sheffield Steeldogs and the Flames did likewise, selecting the Wildcats ahead of 5th placed MK Lightning.
The Wildcats have a played the Flames six times this season, winning 2 and losing 4 times.
