Swindon Wildcats logo Wildcats netminder Stevie Lyle has been named in the GB long list ahead of the training camp for next month's World Championships which are being held in Zagreb.

The 37-man long-list was named by GB head coach Pete Russell, who is a former Wildcats bench coach this morning [Monday March 7, 2016].

GB face hosts Croatia in the Division 1B tournament from April 17 to April 23 as well as Estonia, Lithuania, Romania and Ukraine.

Speaking about his long list selection, coach Russell said: "We have some exciting names on this list and I like the look of our squad.

"There really is big competition for the final 23 spots to go to Croatia, but the door is open for all the 37 players

"We need to have the right balance from top to bottom on the final roster.

"We need guys with good offence, powerplay guys, players who are effective on the penalty kill and that needs to be spread throughout the team."

Lyle is one of four netminders to be chosen in the list, a role he enjoyed in February when he iced in the last round of the Olympic Qualifiers.

To date, Lyle has made 39 senior GB appearances.
