Swindon Wildcats logo Building for the Swindon Wildcats 2016-17 season got underway on Thursday evening [March 3, 2016] with the first two names being added to the clubs roster.

Current player-coach Aaron Nell who is sponsored by Aerial Imaging Solutions and Swedish import Jonas Höög who is sponsored by Kam's Motor Clinic, have both agreed new one-year deals to keep them in Wiltshire for another season, which will come as great news to Wildcats fans.

Speaking to swindonwildcats.com, Nell who will remain in his position as player-coach on a one year rolling-contract said: "I'm very happy to be continuing in my role here in Swindon.

"Stepping in to the position this season has proved to be a very steep learning curve for me, but it's one that I've really enjoyed and I'm looking forward to helping the club improve next year - it's a very exciting time to be part of the continuing growth of the club."

Having agreed to his new deal, Nell wasted no time by tying down fellow standout forward Höög who will enjoy his 7th year at the Swindon Ice Arena.

"Jonas has been an exceptional player since joining this club and I'm thrilled that he has agreed to return for next year's campaign," Nell continued.

"Jonas is the best playmaker in the league and his vision is second to none.

"He's been better than ever this season, and he's a massive part of our team and dressing room. He loves our club and wants nothing more than for the Wildcats to be successful."

Nell, who has currently recorded 73 points from 47 games [38 goals and 35 assists] this season and Höög [67 points - 18 goals and 49 assists from 34 games] are two of the English Premier Ice Hockey Leagues most prolific forwards and it's a partnership that Höög was happy to keep together for a sixth successive season.

"I usually go back home to Sweden [at the end of the season] and take a break from the game before making decisions, but I keep coming back so it makes sense to agree a new deal already as I enjoy being here at the Wildcats," the 29-year old left winger said after signing his contract extension.

"The club is getting better each year and I enjoy the town and the people, it really is a second home to me now."

Various 2016-17 sponsorship opportunities for both players are available now. Sponsorship options start at just £5.
