Swindon Wildcats logo The Swindon Wildcats are delighted to announce that GB U18s blueliner Callum Buglass has joined the club from the Elite League Cardiff Devils ahead of the 2014-15 season.

The player who only celebrated his eighteenth birthday a fortnight ago, will team up with the club on a two-way contract after attracting the eye of head coach Ryan Aldridge last season.

Having had a fantastic fifty-nine game season last term, Buglass said: "When Jamie [Elson- one of the players coaches at the Cardiff Devils] told me that the Wildcats were interested in taking me there, I couldn't wait to join the team.

Buglass began his career with the Cardiff Junior Devils over ten years ago and has remained with the club ever since, earning the U18s Captain role last year as well as breaking in to the GB U18s squad and talking about his future, Devils Director of Hockey Neil Francis told us: "This is a great step for Callum's development with the perfect balance of regular on and off ice training with our Elite League side with the increase game time and role that the Swindon can provide.

"Callum hails from a fantastic family who have instilled great values into him which have resulted in a dedicated young man with a first class attitude to compliment his on-ice talent.

"We see Callum as a player with huge potential and we look forward to working with Swindon to fully utilise that."

Indeed, during his short career, the talented youngster has featured for the Devils U16s and U18s teams no fewer than 72 times (netting 18 goals and recording 40 assists for 58 points), while he has also iced with the clubs two NIHL sides a total of 58 times (7-11-18) and more impressively for someone so young, the clubs Elite league side over the last two seasons, where he has made twenty-four appearances.

Speaking on the arrival of his new D-man, Aldridge said: "I'm delighted that we've been able to bring Callum to the club and I would like to thank the Cardiff Devils for making the move possible.

"With his addition we've got another youngster in our roster who has bags of skill and the enthusiasm to match - he's a player with a very bright future ahead of him.

"He has bags of ability and really wants to learn and improve himself which is great for any coach to see and he'll fit in really well with what we're doing here so I couldn't be more pleased with his arrival."

Concluding the player added: "With the team that Ryan is building at Swindon, I would like to think we'll have a great opportunity at doing well in the play offs this season as well as the cup.

"I can't wait for the season to get underway and for us to get going."
