Wildcats Taylor Made For Floyd

Swindon Wildcats logo Floyd Taylor will begin a straight eighth season in a Swindon jersey after the 19-year old forward agreed to a one-year deal to remain at the Swindon Ice Arena this week.

Speaking after signing the contract the player, who was born and raised in Swindon said: "I was pleased to be asked back by Ryan [Aldridge] for another season and I hope to continue where I left off last season."

Photo by Nicky PearceThe player, who has spent the summer split between working for club sponsors Ideal Plumbing Solutions and keeping his off-ice fitness up in the gym, continued: "I was lucky enough to get on to a regular slot with Aaron [Nell] and Hoogy [Jonas Höög] on the second half of last season and I proved that I can score points and play with the top lines so I hope to do it again."

Having broken in to the GB U20s ranks last term as well as featuring in a personal best number of EPIHL games, Taylor will be hoping that his International experience will hold him in good stead for a starting place and with Import Höög not making a return to the club, head coach Ryan Aldridge is expected to have his lines planned out already.

"Floyd is starting to come-of-age as he proved last season," Aldridge said.

"He's a talented forward and has a big future ahead of him and he's eager to continue progressing his game so it's great to have him in the team and I'm delighted he will be icing for us once again this season."

Meanwhile, fellow Wildcat Aaron Nell added: "Floyd is a massive part of our team and after Christmas last year he showed what an excellent player he is. He's extremely underrated in my opinion and that works in our favour.

"I'm in no doubt that we have two of the best young players in the country right now in Floyd and Ollie [Betteridge] and they are a massive part of our team and for us to be successful we need them to continue their development.

"With players like Jan [Kostal] and now Tomasz [Malasinski] in the team to help him and with Ryan coaching, I feel Floyd will continue to go from strength to strength this year."

Concluding, Taylor said: "I'm excited to see the new imports [Tomasz Malasinski and Kenton Smith] and can't wait to get back to training."

Taylor's 2013-14 season stats:
P: 51 | G: 4 | A: 7 | Pts: 11
GB U20s: P: 5 | G: 1 | A: 0 | Pts: 1
