Crisp Remains With Wildcats

User Rating:  / 0

Slough Jets logo Netminder Michael Crisp will continue his development at the Swindon Wildcats after the player agreed a second season deal which will keep him at the Wiltshire club for the 2014-15 campaign.

The 23-year old provided invaluable back-up to Stevie Lyle during the last term, when he made six appearances and recorded a save percentage of .911 and Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge was eager to keep the talented shot stopper at the Swindon Ice Arena for another season.

"Michael proved to be great cover last year and he is keen to continue to develop himself as a player so it's great to have him in the squad," Aldridge said on announcing his return.

"When he was called in to action last season, he showed great maturity and he has a fantastic future ahead of him.

"I wanted him to be part of what we're doing here at the club so I'm delighted he is here for another year."

Indeed, the Welshman who notched up a goals against average of 2.91 during his first year with the club confirmed that he was also glad to be continuing his development in the English Premier Ice Hockey League and added: "I'm very happy to be back with the Wildcats.

"It gives me a great opportunity to build on my development from last season and carry it on this year."

The player, who is already well in to his pre-season training regime continued: "It was nice to spend the first month of the off season relaxing and recovering from all the additional travelling, and I got to spend a lot of time with family and friends, but I started my off ice training programme some time ago back at the gym and I've been hitting the ice as often as possible recently, so things on the training front really are going to plan.

"This coming season I know that they guys want to win some silverware so we'll be focussed on that - it's the main goal.

"It's going to be another tough season though as the league has definitely got even better over the summer months with some big signings being made, but Ryan [Aldridge] has also strengthened the squad, so we can certainly challenge the other clubs and from a personal stand point, I want to continue to develop my game and help the team in any way that I can when I'm give the opportunity."

Crisp's 2013-14 season stats: P: 6 | GAA: 2.91 | SVS%: 9.11
