Slough Jets logo With his latest deal Craig Moran has struck gold, strengthening the netminding of two teams in the organisation. Danny Milton will be given the chance to start games regularly again as he takes over the starter’s role in NIHL and Joe Myers will join the EPIHL netminding team from Cardiff Devils.

Danny Milton has backed up the Jets behind Gregg Rockman, Kamil Jarina and Andrej Vasiljevic which has meant his personal ice time opportunities were limited. He has put in some good performances for the Jets this season in the starters role between the departure of Jarina and arrival of Vasiljevic but will now get the opportunity to get a regular starters role to further accelerate his development.

Joining the EPL squad is Cardiff born Joe Myers, who had a previous spell with the Jets in 2009/10, earning a Play-off winners medal. The 26 year old joins the Jets fresh from four seasons with Cardiff Devils Elite league team.

Joe Myers learned his hockey at Cardiff and made his senior debut in the ENL with Cardiff. He was quickly drafted in to the EIHL Devils teams where has had played the majority of his career starting from 2006/07. After a 3 season spell with the Devils in 2009/10 he moved to England and played with both Romford and Slough but after one season away he returned to Cardiff where he has spent the last four seasons.

On his latest deal Craig Moran said; “I’m really pleased to have been able to pull of this latest signing. Danny is a great prospect in goal but I know that for him to achieve his potential he needs to get regular ice time to finish his development. He has shown me great talent and skills but I know that at this point in time I cannot offer him the ice time he needs in the EPL team to continue to develop those. I’ve managed to arrange for Danny to complete this season in the NIHL team where he will start games and play the full 60 minutes and I think this will accelerate his development greatly. He will still be involved in the EPL set up and is by no means being cast aside. I’ve spoken to Danny and explained my thoughts and I hope he will take this opportunity to better himself, work on his game and head towards a future EPL starters’ role which I believe he can easily achieve.”

Craig continued; “All this has been made possible by Joe Myers being available and agreeing to come to Slough. I was surprised to see him released if I’m honest but from a Slough Jets point of view certainly not unhappy. I immediately spoke with Danny and Joe to outline my plans for the club’s netminding and Joe was happy to come and join us. Joe has played the majority of his career in the Elite League, he has been around some of the very best netminders and has always played well himself when he’s had the chance. He also enjoyed a season starting in Romford as well so he has what it takes to be half of what I believe is one of the best netminding combos in the league.”

New signing Joe Myers said; “I'm very grateful that after speaking to Craig we agreed on a deal for me to get back on the ice in a Jets Jersey. I've always followed the team since I had the pleasure of playing for the playoff winning team in 2009. The fans I got to know during my previous spell were great and it will be nice to catch up with some old friends. I know this has been a tough season to date, but I hope that I can help in any way possible to turning things around and securing a playoff spot and then who knows. I'm looking forward to meeting up with the guys and getting right into action this weekend”

Craig Moran concluded; “I’m pleased Joe took up my offer and I look forward to working with him and I will be keeping a close eye on Danny’s development as well.”

Joe Myers stands at 5’11 and weighs 159lbs. He catches left handed. Previous clubs: Cardiff, Romford, Slough.
