Slough Jets logo Following yesterday’s signing announcement Head Coach Craig Moran confirms that he has also completed a deal which sees 22 year old Stephen Balmer join the club.

Stephen was born in Dundonald, Northern Ireland and learned his hockey in the Irish Hockey League. In 2007/08 as well as playing for his club Dundalk Bulls with 7 points from 13 games he represented Ireland in the World Championship Division 2, appearing five times for his country. The following season he again represented his country at both Under 18 and senior level and after one more season in the Irish league and 3 more appearances for his country in 2009/10 he headed to England.

In 2010/11 he made his debut for Trafford Metros in the ENL while continuing to represent his country in the World Championships. 2011/12 saw him link up with ENL Streatham Redskins where he produced 21+14 from 36 appearances. A second season at Streatham was followed by a move for this season to Wales where he is the current second point scorer with the NIHL Devils scoring 9 goals and 4 assists.

On his second signing of the week Craig Moran commented; “I am happy for Steve to be joining us at Slough. He can score goals, has a great work ethic and comes highly recommended. I hope he keeps working hard at Slough and hope he can help us while we help him continue his development.”

On signing with the Jets Stephen said; “I'm excited to join the Slough Jets to make that step forward in my career. I’ve previously played for Cardiff devils ENL1 and Streatham Redskins ENL 1 aswell as 6 years for my international team of Ireland where I won a gold medal. I’m really looking forward to the next step and this new challenge in my career.”

In addition to the signing of Stephen Craig Moran continues by announcing that he has agreed a two way agreement with Streatham Redskins which will see Eddie Temple available for both clubs on an arranged basis for the remainder of the season.

Eddie is a former Slough Junior who debuted in the ENL with Slough’s ENL1 and ENL2 teams in 2011/12 along with a final season in Under 18. He scored 2+1 at ENL1, 5+1 at ENL2 and 22+10 at Under 18 which brought him to the attention of Streatham Redskins where he signed to represent their NIHL1 team for 2012/13. After a steady 2+5 in his first year he was re-signed for this season and after an impressive debut weekend last weekend for the Jets he will continue with both the Redskins and Jets on a two way agreement for the remainder of the season.

On completing the two way deal for Eddie Craig Moran said; “After a two way deal going through last minute for Eddie Temple last Friday I was delighted to have him under my wing again. After talking to Warren Rost a number of times he has let Eddie come to us on a 2 way with the Jets even though they were short themselves on Sunday Warren still allowed Eddie to travel with us and I would like to thank him and the Redskins organisation for that.”

He continued; “After coaching Eddie a few years ago when he was just 16 playing ENL1 at Slough he showed a lot of promise so when Eddie spoke to me a few weeks ago it was a no brainier to talk to Woz and see if a 2 way deal was possible. Eddie will be training up with us for the rest of the year and joining us from time to time.”

Stephen Balmer stands at 5’8 and weight 163lbs. He shoots right handed. Previous clubs: Dundalk Bulls, Latvian Halks, Trafford Metros, Streatham Reskins, Cardiff Devils NL
