Two incoming imports

User Rating:  / 0

Slough Jets logo Despite being out the country Head Coach of the Jets Craig Moran has concluded a deal to bring in import forward Kamil Tvrdek and import defenceman Andrius Kaminskas who will join the Jets as soon as their registration paperwork is complete.

30 year old Czech Kamil Tvrdek started the season with Bracknell Bees after being brought in mid season last year at MK Lightning following an horrific career ending injury to Adam Calder. At Milton Keynes he made his debut not longer after arriving in the country and scored the game winning goal. It was one of 25 he scored last season for the Lightning along with 25 assists in just 37 appearances.

In the summer he signed with local rivals Bracknell Bees where he put up 11 goals and 11 assists in 24 starts for just under a point per game before being released by our Berkshire neighbours. Prior to coming to the UK last year he had a distinguished career in Czech Republic and a season in Slovakia. He learned his hockey in his homeland and in 2001/02 made his senior debut in the Czech Extraliga for HC Karlovy Vary. The next season he continued playing Under 20 hockey, returned for his senior club and made loan appearances for HC Banik Sokolov. He continued playing in the top 2 Czech leagues until in 2009/10 he moved to Slovakia for a season in the top league there.

2011/12 saw him return home to Czech and after starting the following season in Czech 2 he was called upon by MK Lightning to journey to these shores.

Speaking upon his latest capture Craig Moran said; “I’m very happy to add Kamil to the squad as we wanted to sign him in the summer but Bees got him first! I think he will be a big part of the team scoring points in a big way I hope and after losing Darius the minute Kamil became available it was a no brainier to bring him in.”

33 year old Lithuanian utility player Andrius “Bomber” Kaminskas will play a defensive role for the Jets linking up with his former international team mate Mindy Kieras. The duo have played many times together for Lithuania in Division 1 of the World Championships and together in their homeland for Energija Elektrenai. Since arriving in the UK the two players have gone their separate ways with Andrius signing at Romford Raiders where he has been a stalwart.

Between making his senior debut and coming to the UK he played his hockey entirely for Energija Elektrenai in Lithuania and then four seasons with Romford Raiders in the EPL. In 2008/09 he signed for Bracknell Bees where he played two seasons. From 2011/12 he was back at Romford and stayed through their relocation to London but in his fourth game this season suffered an injury that looked to be ending his season. Having made a recovery Andrius is now relishing the chance to step up and play in the EPIHL again.

On his second import capture Craig Moran said; “I would like to welcome the no nonsense d-man. He comes highly recommended by Mindy as they played in their National squad with each other as well as playing together in Lithuania. He is hungry to play in the EPIHL again and I have no doubt he will be doing a good job for us and strengthen our defence this year.”

After agreeing his deal Andrius said; “I am very pleased and excited to be joining Slough Jets. Big thanks to the Jets management for giving me this opportunity to come back to the EPL and join my old friend Mindy who I played hockey with for a very long time. I'm excited and really looking forward to the weekend games, hope I can live up to the expectations.”

Both Kamil’s and Andrius’ registrations are awaiting their ITCs transferred to the club and we hope this will be done in time for him to debut this weekend in our away then home weekend against Milton Keynes.

Kamil stands at 6 foot 0 and weighs 194lbs. He shoots left handed. Previous clubs: HC Most HC Karlovy Vary, HC Banik Sokolov, SK Kadan, HC Vrchlabi, MsHK Zilina, Milton Keynes Lightning and Bracknell Bees

Andrius stands at 6 foot 0 and weighs 179lbs. He shoots left handed. Previous clubs: Energija Elektrenai, Romford Raiders and Bracknell Bees
