New Coach weaves a Webb

User Rating:  / 0

Slough Jets logo New Head Coach Craig Moran has started rebuilding the Jets with the exciting signing of prospect player Ryan Webb. The young former Bracknell Hornet and Bee is a hotly tipped future star.

The 19 year old forward was born in Guildford and started his hockey career at the Spectrum within the junior development programme. In 2009/10 he transferred to Bracknell playing both under 16 and under 18 hockey at the Hive. Outgrowing the under 16 team he was immediately fast tracked to play for the Hornets in NIHL1 the following season alongside his under 18 duties.

This partnership continued in the 2011/12 season where international recognition was also forthcoming by way of representing Great Britain under 18 and scoring his first goal for his country.

Averaging over a point a game at NIHL level it wasn't long before he was invited up to the senior team and made his EPIHL debut for the Bees, making 2 appearances last season and one to date so far this season.

From his experience coaching in the NIHL Craig identified the young player as an exciting prospect and with numbers again in excess of a point a game this season the new Coach has decided to offer Ryan the chance to play at senior level and continue to develop his career.

After capturing his first signature Head Coach Craig Moran said; "I am happy that we now have Ryan joining us at the Jets. I have seen him play the last few years and I know that he is going to fit in with the team. Ryan is an up and coming player, still young but he plays with his heart and doesn't give up easily.”

An excited Ryan said after confirming his signing; “I am very excited to be given this opportunity by Craig and the Slough Jets, look forward to a successful second half of the season with the team. This is the first time since under 16s that I have played with a new team so look forward to this change and new environment and will be giving 100% to ensure the team achieves our aims.”

Craig Moran continued; “I would say there is a big chance in a few years he could be playing in the Elite League if he chooses so I’m pleased he has come to us now. I’m looking forward to working with him and helping him continue his development.”

Ryan will make his debut as soon as his registration is finalised.

Ryan stands at 5’8 and weighs 143lbs. He shoots right handed. Previous clubs: Guildford juniors, Bracknell Juniors, Bracknell Hornets & Bracknell Bees.
