Slough Jets speak out

Slough Jets logo Following intense rumour fuelled speculation the Slough Jets management team has decided to speak out to confirm the club’s position.

Director of Operations Steve English confirmed; “We are aware that there have been lots of rumours and falsities written and spoken over the last few days. Yes we are disappointed that our club captain was made an offer while under contract to us but we will not stand in his way after he has expressed his desire to leave. His salary will be made available to bring in a replacement player and the search is already underway. Money is also available to replace Tomas Fojtik with a British defenceman to strengthen the line-up.”

He continued; “Alan Lack was brought in earlier in the season and has made an immediate impact in the team. We believed that we had a firm base to build forward from, bringing in a British replacement for our non EIHA trained defenceman we released earlier in the season and we were looking to continue to climb the table. Dan Scott’s departure is without doubt a huge problem for us but it is not a problem that we cannot overcome and the entire management team are working to make resources available to ensure we can bring in both the British defenceman we were already searching for and a replacement for Dan Scott.”

Still explaining the position English continued; “We are aware that fuelled by the false speculation other players in our roster have been approached and offered spots elsewhere. We have spoken to the entire team and assured them of our commitment to both them and to have as successful a season as possible and we are fully hoping that all our players will remain loyal to us.”

In concluding he added; “The time is now for the Jets family to unite behind our team. The club are working hard to raise awareness and attendance to boost our support numbers again but we’d be grateful to our supporters if they could also help by encouraging friends, work colleagues, school mates to come and join us on hockey nights at the Hangar. We have a booming junior programme under the leadership of SJJA Head Coach Ben Pitchley who is also and South East Mentor Coach, and England Under 13s Assistant Coach , boasting children who represent the South East Conference and England Junior teams, a successful NIHL team and a senior team in the top half of table and able to climb higher in the toughest EPIHL season yet, let’s spread the word and strive to pack out the Arena on gamedays.”

The Jets have a very exciting run in to Christmas with Guildford Flames our next opponents on Hangar ice this Saturday. Next weekend we play the Basingstoke Bison on Sunday night at home and we finish 2013 with a home and away weekend series against Milton Keynes Lightning, our home game being the Sunday. Face-off for all those games is 6.30pm and tickets are available to buy either from 5.30pm on game day at the rink or on-line at
