Slough Jets logo Slough Jets Head Coach Slava Koulikov is delighted to announce the new club Captain and a new alternate Captain to lead the team for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.

Current alternate Captain Dan Scott has stepped up to take on the Captaincy and lead the team. The 21 year old Chatham born defenceman joined the Jets in 2012/13 and impressed with his physical defensive play. Over the summer he worked hard physically to enable him to take his game to the next level and has had an excellent start to the 2013/14 season playing tough defensive hockey. He is one of the brightest developing stars of UK hockey and gives 110% every shift making him a natural selection for the “A” when that became available earlier in the season. Now the “C” is available Dan’s competitive nature and team spirit have made him an obvious choice.

Head Coach Slava Koulikov explained; “Dan from day one has been a leader in our dressing room and he was always an alternative “A”. I knew he had the ability, and this year he has shown what a character he is both on and off the ice since taking the “A”. I’m pleased he accepted my offer to be the new captain, despite only being 21 I know he has it in him to do the job well and I’m looking forward to working with him as the new team Captain.”

The Head Coach can also proudly announce that the now available Alternate Captain job has been awarded to Ciaran Long. Now 22 and in his second spell with the Jets, Ciaran is shaping up to be one of the best British forwards playing in the league this season. Originally a Slough Jet in 2009/10 he returned to the club midway through last season following spells at Basingstoke and Manchester. His start to this season has shown great skill and maturity and he is currently second in the club scoring chart with 12+13 from 20 games.

Slava Koulikov again explained; “I’ve known Ciaran for many years and didn’t hesitate to bring him back midway through the last season. He has continued to develop year on year and we set the goals in the summer of what he was looking for and what I was looking for and I think he is having a great season. He is well liked in the room, he is a young guy who is doing well this year, soaking up pressure, playing well and I know he is more than up to the job.”

Speaking on his promotion Club Captain Dan Scott said; “I’m proud to be given the Captaincy for Slough. I will give it my all on and off the ice for the team and for the fans. It will be hard to fill Muzzy’s boots but I will try my very best and I look forward to the challenge.”

New alternate Captain Ciaran Long said; “I feel like I've put a lot of hard work and effort into the team this season and I’m pleased my efforts have been rewarded with this chance. Things have been changing a lot around the Jets this year but I can't see why we still can't win any silver wear. Slava has put a lot of faith into me this season and I have thrived off of it and hopefully with the A on my shirt I can try step my game up even more to help the team! I have a lot of faith in Slava as he obviously does in me and I hope as a team we can deliver some great hockey for our supporters.”

Head Coach Slava Koulikov is looking forward to working with the new Captain, new alternate Captain and current alternate Captain Dan Davies.
