Skinns leaves the Herd

Basingstoke Bison logo The Paul Baldwin Agencies Basingstoke Bison can confirm that Dean Skinns will not ice for the club next season.

Both parties had been working on a deal that would see the popular netminder return to the Herd for the upcoming campaign.

In the past week, Dean has received an opportunity which would be more beneficial for his future and goes with our full support.

Dean returned to the club ahead of the 2013/14 double-winning season, becoming a vital part of the team's success and title challenge, showcased by being named on the second line of the IHJUK All-Star team.

This spell was the 30-year-old's third with the Herd, after being born in the town and developing through the junior programme.

Dean made his senior debut with the side in 2001, playing in the BNL and EIHL before making the move into the EPIHL with the Bracknell Bees.

Success followed in spells with the Slough Jets and Guildford Flames, after which he made his return to Hampshire in the summer of 2010 - again establishing himself as the number one goalie at the club.

The following campaign was split between the Bison and Swindon Wildcats - spending one-and-a-half years at the Link Centre before returning once more.

A popular figure both on-and-off the ice, Dean made 189 competitive appearances for the Herd. We would like to thank Dean for all his efforts for the club over the past two seasons and wish him all the best for the future.
