Basingstoke Bison logo The Paul Baldwin Agencies Basingstoke Bison are saddened to announce the departure of Matt Selby.

The defenceman endured an injury-ravaged campaign with the Herd last season, with his on-ice performances curtailed by a much documented concussion.

An agreement had been in place for the 19-year-old to return to the club for 2015/16 season and ice once he had fully recovered from his injury.

However, the Birmingham-born player has decided to take an opportunity elsewhere, and as a result, will no longer play for the Stampede.

Matt first joined the club in the tail-end of the 2012-13 season, icing 11 matches before injury forced him to the sidelines.

Again, he returned midway through the following season, becoming a vital part of the side that secured a play-off and cup double.

Making his move to the club permanent over the summer, he only managed to make nine appearances for the Herd in 2014-15, but captained the Great Britain U20's to a gold medal in the World Championships when he was able to ice.

Overall, he made 39 competitive appearances for the club, registering six points and logging 96 penalty minutes.

Whilst we are disappointed to lose such a talented player, all associated with the Bison wish Matt the best of luck for the future, as he continues his road to recovery away from the club.
