Wales departs the Bison

User Rating:  / 0

Basingstoke Bison logoThe Paul Baldwin Agencies Basingstoke Bison can confirm that Michael Wales will not be returning to the club for the 2015/16 season.

The 32-year-old utility player will depart the Basingstoke Arena after receiving a fantastic opportunity away from the club.

Wales joined the Herd in November 2013, after starting the season with the Slough Jets, and immediately became a key part of the double-winning success, only derailed by a serious ankle injury that forced him onto the sidelines.

The Gillingham-born star fought his way back to fitness for the following season, continuing to exert his influence and experience on the squad and becoming a popular member of the team, both within the dressing room and amongst our fanbase.

Overall, 'Muzzy' made 80 appearances during this spell for the Bison - netting 30 points, of which six were goals, and registering 104 penalty minutes in the process.

He also passed 500 EPL appearances during this time with the club, having previously iced for the Medway Bears, England U20s, Solihull Barons, Invitcta Dynamos, Milton Keynes Lightning and Slough Jets in the league. He has also iced for the Guildford Flames, Milton Keynes Kings and Coventry Blaze in other leagues.

All involved with the Bison wish Michael all the best with his future career and would like to thank him for his efforts during the past year and a half. The Paul Baldwin Agencies Basingstoke Bison can also confirm that Brendan Baird will not be icing for the Herd next season. We wish him all the best with his future endeavours.
