Guildford Flames logo The Guildford Flames ice hockey club and Callum Best have agreed a mutual release with immediate effect. In 16 games with the Flames this season, the former local Jr. Star did not record a point and had 2 penalty minutes.

Photo by Alan Bone. The 23 year old forward returned to Spectrum this past off season after a breakout term with the National League’s Streatham Redskins in which the 5’10”, 180 lb skater led all others in points with 36 goals and 54 assists in just 36 starts. The chart topping season was recognised by the Pro Hockey News South All Star awards when he was selected by coaches and peers as a 1st team All-Star forward while also being honoured as the league’s Player of the Year.

“Callum was welcome to stay with us, but we agree that his best option for getting ice time will be with another club,” commented Head Coach Paul Dixon. “I think it is safe to say that things didn’t work out the way either of us may have expected in the earlier season games. Ice time has been vastly reduced in recent weeks and, in combination with the addition of a new player, it doesn’t look like opportunities will be readily available in the near future. We wish Callum all the best for the remainder of the season.”
