Peterborough Phantoms have announced the return of Julian Smith to the team's blue line along with the return of Nick Compton after two years away from the club.

Smith re-signs for his fifth successive season with the Phantoms but has played hockey at the Bretton rink for many more years having iced for the Pythons and Fen Tigers. He's also represented GB at junior level twice as well as having clocked up 5 games with Elite League side Nottingham Panthers.

Compton, who started out with the juniors in his home town of Swindon, iced for the Phantoms during the 2006/07 season but has spent two years developing his game playing Junior-A hockey in North America.  The Phantoms website says that he "developed a strong reputation in North America and is looking forward to putting his experiences to good effect with Phantoms and to quickly establishing himself as a key part of a winning team".
