100 Years of British Ice Hockey Plans A Big Fight With Cancer

ICE HOCKEY has been played in the UK for more than 100 years and to celebrate this fantastic milestone, players, officials and supporters from various eras have planned a big charity weekend.
Durham - once a powerhouse in the sport and where many legends made their name - will host a celebration event at the Ramside Golf and Hotel complex on Friday July 31 and August 1, 2015.
Organisers Scott Plews and Frankie Killen are hopeful players and officials and supporters from over the years will rally round and support ice hockey's fight against Cancer by attending the fun and nostalgic weekend.

Dumfries Council & IHUK shortlisted for award

he Champagne is on ice for Dumfries and Galloway Council as it waits to hear if it has won a top sports award.
The Council, together with partner organisation Ice Hockey UK, has been shortlisted for Best Sports Event in the Scottish Events Awards 2014, for the December 2013 Under-20 World Championship ice hockey tournament, held in Dumfries.
Hosting the World Championship was a huge undertaking for the Council and attracted competing nations from as far away as Japan and Kazakhstan.
The Council has subsequently earned the rights to host the Women’s World Championship in Easter 2015.
IHUK launches Learn to Play programme

Ice Hockey UK officially launched their Learn to Play (LTP) program today at Dumfries Ice Bowl as over 100 schoolchildren took to the ice with the Great Britain Under-18s.
IHUK put together a development plan to the IIHF for the program and many clubs have now received equipment to help recruit youngsters into ice hockey.
The clubs had to apply to the IHUK and there was a strict criteria, which the clubs now have to adhere to throughout the program.

Ice Hockey UK (IHUK) are pleased to announce some of the findings by Wharton Consulting following their structure and governance review on UK ice hockey earlier this year.
IHUK brought together all of the other national ice hockey governing bodies; English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA), Scottish Ice Hockey-UK (SIH-UK) and the UK Elite League (EIHL) for the review.
It was necessary as funders and key stakeholders, including organisations such as the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), British Olympic Association (BOA), UK Sport, Sport England, Sport Scotland, Sport Wales, Sport Northern Ireland and UK Anti-Doping, state that good governance and clarity around structure are vital if an organisation wants to be supported or funded.
UKAD bans Domish for two years

Ice Hockey UK have received confirmation today from UKAD (UK Anti-Doping) that Jerramie Domish has been suspended from all competition for two years following an anti-doping rule violation.
Mr Domish tested positive for two prohibited substances following an in-competition test on 2 March 2013 conducted by UK Anti-Doping and was provisionally suspended from all competition on 22 March 2013.
