This weekend Bracknell Bees Player/Head Coach Lukas Smital became the EPIHL’s leading all time points scorer by passing the mark of 745 points achieved by Gary Clarke who iced for the Milton Keynes Lightning & Guildford Flames.

Photo supplied by Bracknell BeesLukas equaled the points record on Saturday evening with a goal and an assist versus the Swindon Wildcats at the Link Centre and broke the record on Sunday evening versus the Hull Pirates at The Hive with another two assists.

Lukas shows no signs of slowing down his points output despite now being in his eleventh EPIHL season. The Czech born forward has split his EPIHL time with the Bracknell Bees for seven seasons and Guildford Flames for four seasons and is now also in his twelfth year in UK ice hockey overall having spent an additional year prior to that with the Bees in the old British National League.

With the next nearest currently active player, Joe Miller of the Telford Tigers, over 140 points back of the new record held by Smital it looks to be a feat that won’t be equalled for some time with Lukas still very much active and in the points for the Bees this season.

The Bracknell Bees players, staff, management and volunteers would all like to congratulate Lukas on an incredible achievement and hope he goes on continuing to break records in the EPIHL and for the Bracknell Bees.

Having, last season, recently passed 300 appearances, 500 points and 200 goals for the Bees it should be noted that Lukas is also only five goals short of 300 EPIHL goals too. Five goals would take him into third in all-time leading goal scorers in the EPIHL behind only Gary Clarke and Kyle Amyotte, Smital will, all things being equal, also pass 500 EPIHL appearances at some point this season too so the numbers keep on adding up!
