Bracknell Bees logo The Bracknell Bees are pleased to announce the re-signing of 17 year old forward Ivan (Vanya) Antonov for the up-coming 2015/16 EPIHL season.

Having played his entire UK career in the Bracknell Junior system for the U16 Stingers, U18 Drones and NIHL Hornets he made his Bees debut only two seasons ago. In 2013/14 he was splitting his time between the Bees, Hornets and Drones before joining the Bees fulltime in January 2014.

He also picked up eight Man of the Match awards over the season (both home and away).

At the Bracknell Bees End of Season Presentation Awards in April, voted for by the Bees fans, Antonov also found himself voted both Player of the Season and Best British Player in his first full EPIHL season. Over the last two seasons the young forward has also been selected, and played for, both Team GB U18’s and U20’s. In 2013/14 Antonov played in both the U18’s Div2A and U20’s Div1B World Junior Championships and this past season also iced in the U18’s Div2A and U20’s Div2A World Junior Championships where he won a Bronze medal with the U18’s and a Gold Medal with the U20’s.

Earlier this off-season Antonov had left the Bees and signed for the Sheffield Steeldogs but having unfortunately decided to no longer attend Sheffield University his plans changed and Head Coach Lukas Smital has wasted no time in re-securing the youngster’s sought-after signature for the forth-coming campaign.

The late addition to the squad is a clearly a welcome one but the club wish to make it clear that there will be no other roster movements in light of the return of Vanya to the Bees lineup.

Head Coach of the Bracknell Bees, Lukas Smital said of the return of Antonov:
“ I am pleased to have been able to add Vanya back to the Bees squad for this coming season despite some fierce competition for his signature since his plans changed. It is unfortunate for him that he will not now be attending University in Sheffield but we are glad to see him back in the Black, White and Gold of the Bees whilst feeling for him that things did not work out for him as he had intended. He will give the squad a boost for sure. “

Ben Beeching, Bracknell Bees General Manager commented to the extra addition to the Bees 2015/16 squad:
“Everyone could see Vanya had an exceptional breakout year last year and his return for the coming season is a fantastic boost to the whole club. I’m excited to see Vanya’s contribution to a successful year.”
