Basingstoke Bison logo The Paul Baldwin Agencies Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the re-signing of popular Canadian forward Joe Rand for a fourth season with the Bison.

His return completes the Herd's import line-up for the forthcoming campgin as he joins the returning Miroslav Vantroba and Tomas Karpov, along with new netminder Tomas Hiadlovsky.

Rand adds even more firepower to what is already looking like an awesome offensive unit of 20 plus goal scores in the EPL.

As added to imports Rand and Karpov are hot shot British quartet Shaun Thompson, Ciaran Long, Joe Greener and Aaron Connolly.

Rand netted 25 times last season in 54 games on his way to 51 points and in three years for the Bison he has scored 64 times in EPL.

As well as scoring goals - the native of Hamilton, Ontario is an excellent defensive forward capable of shutting down the best forward lines in the league.

He will once again be used in this role this season, but Bison head coach Doug Sheppard is also keen for him to be amongst the goals as well.

Sheppard said: "We know what Randy brings to this team and he will work hard every shift for you. He can play a number of roles and he is one of the best at stopping other team's top lines, but he also comes up with big goals and certainly a big game player."

This is proved when you look at Rand's play-off stats where he has scored seven times in nine games and included in this was his penalty shot in the final against Manchester which proved to turning point of the 2014 final in Coventry.

Rand is delighted to be back in Bison jersey and said: "The Bison is the only team for me in the EPL and I want to carry on playing here until my body no longer lets me. It is a great organisation with great fans and really enjoy playing in Basingstoke.

"I am really excited and what I have seen of the team so far and want to part of what I think will once again being a winning Bison team."
