After a couple of weeks off due to scheduling and ice issues at The Hive the Bees headed north to play the Sheffield Steeldogs with both teams seemingly on good form as the game got underway. The first ten minutes of the game was even as the play swung from end to end with a few good chances for both sides. The game got a little heated though as Craig Elliot tangled with Scott Spearing but nothing resulted from the altercation. The traveling Bees then unfortunately took a penalty as Josh Smith was given 2 minutes for boarding at 11:08. The home side Steeldogs used the advantage well resulting in the first goal of the evening, scored at 12:51 by Tim Smith with assist going to Greg Wood and Steve Duncombe. The game continued and with some unusual entertainment at 17:50 as Andrew Hirst was on the opposite side of the ice when his blade came out of his skate and he had to propel himself across the ice with his stick. The Bees then had a last minute stroke of luck at 19:17 as Craig Elliott received 2 minutes for hooking, handing the Bees a potential good start for the second period with the powerplay.

The Bees began the second period on the power play which the home side Steeldogs saw off effectively remaining strong. The Bees however soon had another power play chance at 22:08 as Ashley Calvert was given 2 minutes for boarding. Unfortunately the Bees couldn't make the advantage count and at 23:28 the Steeldogs Stanislav Lascek broke quickly and scored a shorthanded goal despite Alex Mettams acrobatic effort to keep the puck out. The Bees pressed hard however and were rewarded for their efforts when at 23:58 Frantisek Bakrlik scored the Bees first goal of the evening assisted by Milan Kostourerk and Lukas Smital. The goal visibly lifted the Bees and they pushed even harder looking for another goal and they succeed when they netted goal number two at 25:24 scored by Josh Smith assisted Sam Waller and Milan Kostourek. The Bees had another power play chance when Craig Elliott once again found himself in the box, this time he received 2 minutes for high sticks at 28:53. The Bees looked to use this opportunity but suffered soon themselves as only thirty seven seconds later David Savage received 2 minutes for slashing at 29:30. The penalties were killed off well by both teams but the Bees found themselves with the man advantage again as the homeside Steeldogs Liam Charnock received 2 minutes for hooking at 33:37. The Bees worked the man advantage well and their efforts paid off as at 34:26 as Vanya Antonov found the back of the net with the assists going to Frantisek Bakrlik and Lukas Smital. The Steeldogs dug deep though and pushed forward and looked to have taken the lead at 39:11 as Stanislav Lascek fired a shot which looked to enter the net, the goal light went on but after a discussion between the referee and the goal judge the decision was overturned and the goal disallowed. The game progressed but shortly after, as the referee skated past the Bees bench he turned and blew his whistle and signalled for Milan Kostourek to go to the box giving the Bees forward a 10 minute misconduct.

The third period did not start well for the Bees as they took an early penalty with Lewis Turner handed 2 minutes for hooking, timed at 42:50, the Bees however killed the penalty well. They then suffered another blow as at 44:04 Frantisek Bakrlik received a questionable 2 minutes for holding. The Steeldogs upped their game and netted a power play goal at 44:54 despite the efforts of Alex Mettam, the goal was scored by Tom Squires and assisted by Tim Smith and Arnoldas Bosas. At 49.53 Stanislav Lascek danced his way through the Bees defence to score the Steeldogs next goal timed at assisted Lewis Bell and Liam Charnock. The Bees again though dug deep and pressed forward as much as they could even though the Steeldogs were throwing hits left, right and centre. Another disallowed goal for the homeside at 53:05 was quickly followed by another penalty to the Steeldogs at 53:50 as Greg Wood received 2 minutes for tripping. Despite puck possession the Bees couldn’t create clear chances on the resulting powerplay. This was punished by the Steeldogs as they broke free at 56:37 seeing Arnoldas Bosas scoring once more with the assists going to Lubomir Korhon and Tom Squires, which was quickly followed by another Steeldogs goal through Liam Charnock scored at 57:00 assisted Stanislav Lascek and Andrew Hirst. Just 18 seconds after the goal as the whistle was blown Lewis Bell was given a 5 plus game misconduct penalty for the home side for spearing Milan Kostourek. This was then followed by Callum Pattison heading onto the ice before diverting his attention to the bench where a scuffle ensued. Pattison was given a 5 plus game for roughing and was escorted off the ice before the Bees called a time out at 58:39. The time out resulted in the Bees pulling Alex Mettam from the ice to have a 6 on 3 opportunity but it wasn't to be and the Steeldogs gained control of the puck and Tim Smith scored Sheffields final goal, an empty net goal at 59:52. Mettam returned to the ice for the remaining time as the game timed out quickly.

Man of the match awards went to Vanya Antonov for the traveling Bees and to Liam Charnock for the home side Steeldogs.
